A Journey into Aged Care: Sophie’s Story

Sophie’s journey with WomenCAN Australia (WCA) has been truly transformative. She completed her training and traineeship in aged care with the Mt Alexander Council, a period marked by significant personal growth and new discoveries.

Reflecting on her experience, Sophie shared, “My experience with WomenCAN Australia was great! I felt very supported throughout the whole course of the traineeship, especially the Peer Support Team; they were amazing and helped me out so much.” Their support and guidance were instrumental to Sophie’s success, making the traineeship both fulfilling and rewarding.

Sophie said that she “Enjoyed learning new things about aged and disability care and working within the community.” This exposure not only broadened her skills but also highlighted the significant impact she could have on others’ lives.

When asked if she would recommend WomenCAN Australia to other women, Sophie responded, “Yes, definitely! WomenCAN Australia really care and want to see you succeed; they offer all the right support.” Her recommendation highlights the program’s dedication to empowering women in their professional journeys.
