Celebrating a Legacy of Empowerment: Mikaela Stafrace’s Retirement Announcement

Mikaela Stafrace - Ex CEO
It is with mixed emotions that we announce the retirement of Mikaela Stafrace, the visionary CEO and Founder of WomenCAN Australia. As we celebrate her incredible contributions and reflect on her journey, we also embrace the new chapter that awaits her.

Mikaela’s journey began with a powerful realisation: despite her career in corporate law, something was missing. Driven by a sense of purpose and a deep understanding of the barriers women face in the workforce, she founded WomenCAN Australia in 2019. Her mission was clear—to dismantle the barriers of bias and discrimination and to provide women with the tools they needed to thrive.

Under Mikaela’s leadership, WomenCAN Australia has become a beacon of hope and opportunity. The organisation’s core initiative, The Placement Circle, offers women a chance to gain vocational training, secure fair, and safe employment, and receive peer-led support. By focusing on aged care, childcare, transport, and trades, WomenCAN Australia has not only supported women but has also strengthened local economies and communities.

The success of the organisation can be attributed to Mikaela’s commitment and innovative spirit. WomenCAN Australia’s programs, such as the “Earn and Learn” model, have transformed the lives of many women, enabling them to gain valuable skills and secure stable employment. The social enterprise, WomenCAN Build, further exemplifies Mikaela’s dedication, offering qualified tradeswomen opportunities to provide essential services while fostering a sustainable career path.

Mikaela’s accolades, including the Myer Innovation Fellowship and AMP Tomorrow Maker recognition, are a testament to her extraordinary impact. Yet, her true legacy is the countless women who have found new beginnings through her work.

As Mikaela steps into retirement, we honour her remarkable achievements and the indelible mark she has left on WomenCAN Australia. While we will miss her visionary leadership, we are excited for the future of the organisation, built on the strong foundation she has established.

Join us in celebrating Mikaela’s incredible journey and the bright future of WomenCAN Australia. Thank you, Mikaela, for your dedication, passion, and the profound difference you have made in the lives of so many.

Here’s to new beginnings and continued progress in empowering women across Australia.

Regards,

The WomenCAN Australia Team
