Providing Services on a Local Level
WomenCAN Australia is deeply embedded in metropolitan cities and regional communities, offering links to vocational training, job placements and peer support to women who have, or may be experiencing, disadvantage including family violence.
By being accessible and responsive to the needs of women, we ensure that help is available when it is most needed.
Overcoming Barriers for Women to Enter the Workforce
The services provided by WomenCAN Australia, including their highly successful peer support program, The Placement Circle, provides support for women to overcome barriers to training and employment and reconnect with the workforce.
By bringing women with a shared lived experience together, we assist them to rebuild their confidence, connections and work capability.
The Placement Circle provides a scaffold for women to stride the path toward financial independence, side by side – together.
Reaching Those at Risk of Being Left Behind
WomenCAN Australia is committed to inclusivity, ensuring that their services reach the most vulnerable and marginalised women. This includes women from diverse cultural backgrounds, those facing barriers to employment and those living in regional/remote areas. By tailoring their approach to meet the unique needs of these groups, they work to ensure no one is left behind.
Improving Gender Equality in the Workplace
WomenCAN Australia collaborates with businesses in traditionally male-dominated industries, such as transport, to increase the percentage of their female workforce. By connecting businesses in the transport sector with women eager to start their careers as bus or heavy vehicle drivers, we are promoting gender equality.
We identify barriers that women may face in the transport industry and provide support before, during, and often after the recruitment process. This enables the full and equal participation of women in these sectors.
Additionally, we advocate for women by working towards the elimination of gender-based discrimination, particularly concerning family and caregiving responsibilities.
Bolstering Women’s Empowerment
Empowerment is at the heart of WomenCAN Australia’s mission. Our programs are aimed at building women’s confidence, skills, and financial independence.
Programs cover skills development in resume writing and interview techniques, assistance to apply for Working with Children and Police Checks and establishing links to vocational training and job placements.
