WomenCAN Australia’s assistance didn’t stop at guidance. They also provided financial support, covering essential fees for Police and Working with Children Checks. “For someone who was unemployed and looking to begin a new career , this support lifted a significant burden,” Jane explained. “It made starting my traineeship easier and more accessible.”
One of the most valuable aspects of WomenCAN Australia are the monthly peer support meetings. Each session tackles important topics—time management, self-care, and Gibbs’ reflection cycle—but more than that, they foster a sense of community. These sessions helped Jane navigate challenges and grow with other women in a supportive community, reminding her that she was not alone on this journey.
As Jane progressed through her traineeship, she discovered the true meaning of empowerment and commented, “For women who are returning to work, changing careers, or starting afresh, the WomenCAN traineeship program offers a vital opportunity: you can earn a salary while training.” This is a vital step toward financial independence.
Today, Jane proudly works at Bupa Aged Care in Echuca, where she’s fallen in love with her job and the residents she cares for. “Their well-being is my top priority,” Jane explains, “Being able to learn and develop my skills has opened new doors. In fact, I’ve taken my dream a step further by enrolling in a Diploma of Nursing course starting in July 2024.”.
At Jane’s graduation ceremony, she stood before her peers and said, “Thank you, Trish, and thank you, WomenCAN Australia, for making my dream come true!” WomenCAN Australia empowers women to take control of their future, providing the guidance, support, and financial independence needed to succeed. If you’re considering a career change or pursuing a new passion, remember: WomenCAN Australia is here to support you every step of the way.
