WomenCAN Australia is proud to partner with Volvo Trucks Australia, Wodonga TAFE and Transport Women Australia Limited to launch a new Women in Transport program designed to address Australia’s growing truck driver shortage while opening secure, long‑term career pathways for women.
As freight demand continues to surge and the transport workforce ages, Australia urgently needs new, diverse talent entering the industry. Yet women remain significantly under‑represented in truck driving roles, often due to structural barriers such as access to licensing, industry culture and a lack of visible pathways into work. This partnership directly responds to those challenges by combining accredited training, licensing support, job placement and wraparound mentoring—ensuring women are supported not just to gain qualifications, but to enter and stay in meaningful employment.
Through this collaboration, WomenCAN will provide tailored participant support alongside industry‑led training and employer connections, helping women with varied life experiences—including caring responsibilities, career disruptions or barriers to education—build confidence, skills and sustainable transport careers.
